I am an Associate Professor and the Interim Chair of the Sociology Department of The City College of New York. Previously, I was a postdoctoral scholar at the Center on Poverty and Inequality at Stanford University. I received my Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California - Los Angeles.

I am an expert on housing, residential segregation, and social policy. My work has examined the role of U.S. housing policy in shaping the opportunity structure for families and children. My on-going research looks at the housing conditions of Latino and African American families in New York City from an environmental justice perspective.
